anchor

love wraps in
winter’s blue
ripping, gripping
weeping, breathing
heavily on and on
this distance gaps
us in miles away
missing both
our union’s glee

fire warms the
butterflies trapped
in the skins of longing

and longing angrily
like a bird locked
in a cage

our boats sail
and meet in between
the silhouette
of midnight waters
anchoring us
secretly from
the crowd

no more ripping
no more gripping
we’re gaily wrapped
in winter’s night
