I Do Not Make Me Want You

Your absence cuts me like a knife.
Long, warm, sleepless nights
are terrible.

I am not good at many things.
Yet, I can be your someone who can
be there.

No magic words, no sacred rituals,
this intellectual capacity to understand
you is a fact.

I do not make me want you
but we are the same lonely people
in the universe.
