Don’t Jump From The Bridge

Shades of almost rain
from the clouds in a confused
afternoon,

of almost death in
the world that is utterly
forgotten,

of a desire to finish
a story that everybody has
already heard,

and someone almost
finished a celebration but
I tried to disagree.

Don’t jump from the bridge,
I said, almost begging on my
knees and the thought

that matters a thousand times
is better than a quiet, nonchalant
countenance.
