dry ground of summer june

               the vast of fields,
echoes over the wide
               open space,

dry ground of summer
               june, and your absence
is pure.

               i can’t find you
in the trees. i can’t
               hear you in the wind.

the solitude
               of the hours are spent
thinking of you.

               i become the one being
left behind. you depart at a
time i needed you the most.
